Koroneiki Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Koroneiki olive trees are among the oldest in Greece. Some are between 3000-5000 years old, and the growers who produce this oil engage in an ancient and labor-intensive process to bring tradition to the marketplace. Sometimes called the “king of olives,” Koroneiki is renowned for its unusually high yield of oil (often up to a third of the olives’ weight is oil), and for its true, olive-y flavor.FLAVOR PROFILE:Our Koroneiki is a wonderful specimen of this variety. Robust in flavor and consistency, its olive flavor is offset by subtle notes of fresh grass and it finishes with a light, peppery flourish.PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:When cooking Greek, go for the Koroneiki; use this gem in hummus or dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), on its own as a dip for fresh bread or warm pitas, or drizzled over rice or lentil dishes. The Koroneiki is also delicious in vinaigrette. Try it with our Barrel-Aged Red Wine vinegar and serve over a green salad with olives, tomatoes, feta cheese, and sliced carrots. Or pair it with our Vanilla Orange or Pear Balsamic vinegars for a sweeter dressing over baby spinach, walnuts, goat cheese and strawberries.
